Risk Holding during Medical Training in the United Kingdom  [Ends 31st October 2026]

Doctors hold risk when making clinical decisions, performing procedures or supervising other doctors. It can be broadly described as taking responsibility for the possibility of an adverse outcome despite the decision or action undertaken being in the best interests of the patient. GPs are experts in holding risk.

We would like volunteers to take part in a 45 minute interview exploring your experience of holding risk in postgraduate general practice training in the UK.

This survey is part of a wider research project led by a clinical fellow supported by the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme at NHS England, the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AOMRC) and the Yorkshire and Humber Patient Safety Research Collaborative.
