BAND-AID-DCM Understanding BArriers ND fAcIlitators to Diagnosis of Degenerative Cervical Myelopathy [Ends 31st July]
Thank you for wanting to know more about this study exploring barriers and facilitators to a diagnosis of degenerative cervical myelopathy. In using the term "degenerative cervical myelopathy" (DCM) we mean any non-traumatic spinal cord compression caused by degenerative spinal conditions (such as osteoarthritis or ligamentous buckling) or acute or chronic disc protrusions. We know that people with DCM can take 3-5 years to get a diagnosis of DCM, which delays time to treatment (surgery), and may impact the degree of recovery post-surgery. We want to improve the time from onset of symptoms to diagnosis and help to create a clear journey for people with suspected symptoms.
Who we are recruiting
We are looking to interview qualified general practitioners currently involved in the patient journey, identifying or suspecting a diagnosis of degenerative cervical myelopathy. We are keen to hear people from different geographical locations across England, years of health care experience and professional identities.
What is involved
If you agree to participate in the study, you will be asked to schedule a time for an online interview using MS Teams or Zoom. The interview is expected to last 20-30 minutes.
How to participate
👉 If you are interested in, or would like to take part, the participant information and expression of interest form are available via the following link:
